St. Patrick’s Day

March 18th, 2008 by timbotron

Yesterday was St. Patrick’s day. Which means that today, several of you have whiskey or green beer hangovers. Last night, in a bar, I was astounded to learn that there wasn’t a single Irish person in the room celebrating, and that the majority of the revelers had no clue that we were celebrating a Saint responsible for a snake-free Ireland. And all I wanted to do was smack the next person who asks me if I’m wearing green. I’m tempted to buy this shirt from T-Shirt Hell next year - my rebellion against a holiday whose meaning has become lost in Palo Alto, California.

I feel you……….I always felt that St. Paddy’s Day was a bust in good ole Shallow Alto…………but NOW………..NOW I’m in the midst of lots O’Malley’s and Seamus’es. :D I WAS at the bar last night, but no green beer, just lots of whiskey and REAL irish music. F that it was a Monday night, no one seemed to care!!! WHOO HOOO!!! I even almost got into a fight with some townie chick from Somerville. Rockin!

Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras however????? These fools don’t know how to party like a real Catholic sinner! I was alllllllllll alone in my Fat Tuesday revels. :(

Can’t have it all, I guess.

P.S. I guess you didn’t see my friend Dave anywhere around Palo Alto wearing the shirt I sent him last year. It’s from an Irish pub near my house, is green, and reads “Who’s your laddy?” tee hee. ;D

I dunno man…this is a good shirt if you want to get your ass beat on St. Patty’s day. “Hmm, I think I’ll go piss off the local drunken mob…”
