Presenting…Manhattanhenge
May 25th, 2008 by HeywoodIf you’re an NYC-based Blogadilla reader, be on the lookout in the next few days for the phenomenon of “Manhattanhenge.” Similar to Stonehenge, because New York City’s streets are laid out in a grid, the sun sets directly between all of the cross streets in Manhattan. The 2 dates every year that this occurs are usually May 28 and July 12 (sometimes the 13th), so check it out!

This was filmed just outside my first NYC apartment. That is one of my favorite spots in all of New York — on the overpass above 42nd street in Tudor City. I watched this phenomenon when I lived there, without knowing it had a name!!
