UPDATE: Olympic Feel Good Story Coming to an End
July 16th, 2008 by nerol someonesAs we reported back on May 16th, Oscar Pistorius won the right to compete for a place in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Despite posting a personal best in his most recent meet (46.25 seconds for the 400-meter race), Oscar missed the Olympic qualifying standard for a spot on the South African Olympic team (45.55 seconds).
It is an unfortunate turn of events for Oscar, who has had to fight the Olympic Commission as well as other athletes for his shot at the Olympics, and while he will not have a chance to compete individually, there is still a chance that he will be selected for the six-man roster for the 1,600 meter relay.
Oscar has also said that he plans to compete for the South African team in individual events for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Good luck Oscar!
