Orange Crush Poundcake

November 16th, 2008 by timbotron

I recently saw these at 7-Eleven and wanted to scoff at the desperate marketing attempt to merge soft drink with poundcake.

And then I did a little homework:

Apparently Orange Crush Poundcake is a tradition in the American South [recipe and recipe] . . . though I suspect that the real hardcore recipes require something like Piggly Wiggly brand orange soda instead.

And like the recent commercially made versions, there is also a traditional poundcake recipe with 7-up.

Yes, but where can I purchase the orange crush pound cake that 7-11 carries – something a little less costly?????? The homemade stuff just doesnt cut it.
